Research Assistant:August 2014 to Present.

Working with Principal Investigators Brian DeVries Ph.D. and Gloria Gutman Ph.D on the TVN Improving Care for the Frail Elderly funded "Fostering End-of-Life Conversations, Community and Care among LGBT Older Adults."Tasks: Research and development an LGBT end-of-life resource inventory and the development of web content.

Research Assistant:2008 to 2013.

Worked as a research assistant for Dr. Andrew Sixsmith carrying out a variety of tasks from obtaining ethics approval for research to editing materials for presentation and publication.

Consultant:2008 to 2013.

Advised executive committee members of the Council of Seniors Organizations of British Columbia (COSCO). Authored a major conference report and created workshops to be presented to seniors and community organizations regarding the following topics:

International Society for Gerontechnology 2010 7th World Conference.

Research Assistant:October 2009 to April 2010.

Research assistant to Dr. Heather Stewart on Vancouver 2010 (SAS) Sustainability in Action for Seniors, a research project to assess the impact of the 2010 Olympics upon seniors living in Vancouver’s West End. Tasks: Conducted pre and post intervention interviews. Collected blood samples and vital signs data.

Completed a 300-hour Internship. Produced a paper concerned with the history of Active Aging in BC.

Focus group facilitator:2008.

Sharon MacKenzie's (in Partnership with theBC Ministry of Health) Intergenerational Toolkit project. Focus groups held atthe Active Aging Symposium, June 5 & 6, 2008.

Co-founder and Chair of the Gerontology Student Union (Simon Fraser University, Burnaby BC):September 2006 to January 2008.

In the fall of 2006 I gathered support for the establishment of the Gerontology Student Union and authored the Gerontology Student Union Constitution. The Constitution was ratified and the group began its official existence in April 2007. I held the position of Chair until January 2008.

Assistant to facilitator:October 2007.

Buffers of impairment/disability cascade supplement focus groups. Dr. Loren Lovegreen, Simon Fraser University and Dr. Eva Kahana, Case Western Reserve University. Focus groups concerned with improving communication between older adults and their primary care physicians.

Assistant to recreation therapist:Feb. 2007 to April 2008.

Volunteer position in the Extended Care Unit at the Surrey Memorial Hospital as an Assistant to the Recreation Therapist in carrying out the ambulation program for seniors.
